S.B. 194 – To include LGBTQ in History in Schools!

Today, we received word that the bill draft has been completed and the Senator Roberta Lange is the Primary Sponsor with Co-Sponsors Senator Moises Denis, Senator Fabian Donate, Senator Scott Hammond, Senator James Ohrenschall, and Senator Heidi Seevers Gansert, that are working with us on this important legislation piece.  Undoubtedly this bill will make news headlines, and possibly national news.

I hope during the course of this bill going from committees to the floor and voted on, that we can have your support in making sure we, as a state, can be the sixth state that includes the teaching of LGBTQ History to our youth in schools.

S.B. 194 will be changing the language of the NRS 389.525 to include, Pacific Islander Americans, Chicano Americans, Latino Americans, Middle Easter Americans, Women, persons with disabilities, immigrants or refugees, persons who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Questioning.  Please see the attached bill for the complete overview, please refer to page 10, lines 28-32.

We know that there might be negative feedback on this introduction, and that is why we as LGBTQ organizations need to ban together, so we can be a power house to insure that we become this sixth state to include LGBTQ history in our classrooms.

If you have any questions, comments, feedback, or support, please reach out to me so we can work together in making this happen for our state, our people, and our LGBTQ community.
